Born Ruffians- Birthmarks

Ontario's Born Ruffians return with a triumphant swagger with third album "Birthmarks" this week. Their ever pleasing hook-wordy indie pop is best enjoyed with a bright sunny day.

NO JOY Wait To Pleasure

J'adore No Joy. Last Year I scheduled my trip to Montreal so I could attend a hometown No Joy gig at the legendary Casa Del Popolo and the tiny room dynamic blew me in half... because a good gig is the sort that blows your eardrums out. Their second album "Wait To Pleasure" is released on Mexican Summer next week and the teaser "Lunar Phobia" is the soundtrack to a hazy bliss best played to pleasurable ad nauseum

Album Stream: Sweet Baboo – Ships [Best Fit Premiere]

The "Right Good" TLOBF have started streaming the absolutely lovely Sweet Baboo album "Ships" and it's already amongst my favourite albums of the year after half a spin... "The Morse Code for Love is Beep Beep, Beep Beep, The Binary Code is One One" wins song title of the year hands down, so look forward to me dropping that into conversation drunk at some point before 2013 ends....

Bass Drum of Death- Shattered Me

Oxford, MS' finest son(s) Bass Drum of Death premiered a fresh upbeat big catchy chorus slacker punk this morning from the forthcoming Self titled album released in June.

Recently signed to Wichita Recordings (Sadly, 2012's American Weekend and this year's Cerulean Salt have been taken off Spotify as a result), apparently mind blowing SXSW performances and a recently announced European jaunt with Canadian electric pop darlings Tegan & Sara. 2013 is certainly going to be the year of Katie Crutchfield!

Carmen Villain: Sleeper

Everyone loves models. Everyone loves a Mystery. Everyone loves down tuned guitar circa Sonic Youth. "Lifeissin" is a dark blurry concept from a mystery biography-less former supermodel.

Western Owls- Icicles

Fresh from Stereogum is Western Owls, the moniker of Jack Burnside, teaming up with Saddle Creek legend Andy LeMaster to create this delicious slice of indie pop. The album is out in June and on the back of this track alone it's set to be one of my summer favorites.

The-Dream IV Play

The-Dream is keeping it real on his new tune premiered over at Rolling Stone with additional roman numerals. Nash don't like no foreplay but he promises some extra attention from instant business. That's enough chat... get down to business.
